Hello Viktor, how’s it going in Barcelona, how you decide to move there?
Hello everyone! It’s pretty hot here now in August:)
Well, moving to Spain from Budapest was in my mind for a while now, I felt like I needed this step to live abroad again after America. My first choice of city was Málaga, but somehow I ended up in BCN with my girl. Of course I wanted to choose a place where I can ride under the sun, jump into the sea, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, enjoy the nature, and this city includes all of these stuff.
Was hard to find a work and start to live in Bcn?
Yes, but at the same time no. It’s pretty much like anywhere you want to start a new life, new language, people, atmosphere.. The situation in BCN is crazy, just like everywhere in the world right now. Finding my way is a little bit harder than I thought at the beginning, the way of living has changed since the virus showed itself, but besides that the vibes are the same, we’re both working with Zsófi, so I believe if I’ll pull my socks up, everything is going to be fine.
You ride a lot? Do you have some favourite spots in BCN?
I would like to ride more as I do now, but I’m a grown up man and need to take care of my personal life too. Of course because I’m an old time bmx rider, I go to ride whenever I have a chance, or go hiking with my girlfriend, discover new places in beautiful Catalonia.
I have a couple of favourite places. My favourite trails was in Mataró, I just rode it once because unfortunately it’s been drained (RIP Mataró) but the same builders made Eurocamp Jumps (Trails), which is also incredible. Marbella Skate Park is my local now, I like riding there when there aren’t that many kids. Still there are so many creative spots in the city, I love them all, Barcelona is the best.
I saw that you ride street with local riders, how does the bmx community looks like in BCN ? Are there some crews, or they ride all together?
Yes I ride with almost everyone, locals and riders who are visiting. Well, the bmx community in Barcelona is huge, it includes a lot of different cultures, in which everyone knows each other. There are so many crews, who aren’t always ride together, you know how it is, someone goes derecha, someone goes izquierda.
I would like to mention my boys: Elgasaimento Crew, Ellia, Vincenzino, Roman, Guiseppe, there are the ukranian twins Maxim and Igor in the city now, Santi, Facu, Kumba, Ciro my brother and awesome photographer, and the other good and talented amigos. I like to go with the trails riders Beto and Howard too, also having fun in the bowls and concrete parks with Max, with whom I can ride many different styles.
How’s rolling new bmx?
Love it, this is my second Safari frame from you guys. I decided to go with the black&black, it looks solid. It’s just really awesome, I feel it’s perfect and I don’t want to change.
Do you have some favourite parts of your bmx?
Yes actually I do have some favourite parts, however I like the whole thing together. I can say I really like Reed’s Safari frame, the geometry of it feels like the oldschool frames like 15 years back, It’s tall, a little bit longer so I feel it’s made for tall dudes..please don’t take me wrong:) Also I like the new Jonesin sprockets, they are pretty lovely too, and I think the substance crank the XL versions are for a lifetime. Ohh and I really do like the new Dan Paley slimmer seat. I know the Maxi’s tires are not 100% made for street riding, but I believe who riding bowls, trails, street, anything, this tire is perfect. So yeah, I love my bike.
Some plans for the future?
I don't usually plan too far ahead, but there are some yes. They are more like dreams, and I would like to follow them so hopefully they would turn to be plans, and after reality. I’m working on a Dickies life documentary, also there is a video bike check for you guys, you'll see it soon. Also there is a jam on the way, if the circumstances allow us to do it, and some couple more things like 13store/etnies/stance web edit, and some new stuff with the Elgasaimento boyz. Keep eye on the Streetlife crew mixtape, I'll have some clips in it too.
Thanks for the questions, keep riding bmx, peace&love, hasta luego!
